First discovered by Henry Becquerel in 1898, isolated by the Curies in 1902 from an ore called Pitchblende (Cleveite).
They actually first isolated Polonium from Pitchblende. However, the Curies thought that it's not enough. So, they continued to research and continue to isolate element.
Until 1902, the Curies finally isolated a new element which after they called it Radium.

Uses
Radium was once used in cosmetics, watches and even foods! But after workers at the Watch Factory complained about their Jaw's problem, Radium was found to be doing the disease and eventually Radium was banned in 1920.
However, Radium was now still used in clothes, phone cases, glow-in-the-dark paint and also Glow Sticks.
So, Radium is still Radioactive. If you ever recieve a glow stick, do not break it or radioactive substances will escape!
